Get to know our principal, Educator of the Year -1990-1991
As a practicing Catholic I am looking forward to becoming part of the parish and school family. I was born and raised in Omaha and attended St. Cecilia’s grade school and Cathedral High School. My undergraduate degree is from the University of Nebraska Omaha, in Elementary Education with a specialization in reading. I earned my master’s degree in Educational Administration from Creighton University.
I began my educational career at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha as a 5th grade teacher and I was named the Intermediate Coordinator and served in that position for several years. For the last 23 years I have been the elementary principal at St. Albert Elementary School in Council Bluffs. During my tenure I have initiated several new programs, built a strong elementary program, and watched hundreds of children develop into adults that are active in their faith life and leaders in their community.
While I was teaching at St. Cecilia I met my husband who was on the maintenance staff. Don is now the Head of Buildings and Grounds for the Cathedral and has worked for the Cathedral for 40 years. We have 3 boys. The boys received a Catholic education. Each is married and active in their church. My oldest son and his wife have a set of twins and an infant son. My second son is principal of Sacred Heart and his wife is a preschool teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes in Omaha. They also have a set of twins. My youngest son married his best friend, Amy, and is also expecting twins in September.
During my free time I enjoy sewing, quilting, camping and spending time with family.
I believe in Catholic Schools and have dedicated my life to educating students in a Catholic school environment.c
